The Wisdom Within
A deep winter retreat day for women to reconnect with body, emotions and pelvic health
Listen in. Move. Rest. Connect, or don't.
9.30am to 4.30pm, with Kim Pedrick, chartered physiotherapist, and Christie Bytom, yoga and martial arts instructor.
Early bird £167, ends 30 November · Limited to 17 women · Also available as a gift
January asks a lot. The light is thin, Christmas has taken what energy you had left, and everyone else's needs still come first.
This is one day that's yours. Come as you are.
Move your body, or rest it. Learn how your pelvic floor and core really work, and how to listen to what your body has been telling you. Eat simple, soulful food. Sit with other women, or sit quietly on your own. Tend to whatever needs tending.
There are no shoulds here. Join in with everything, or lie under a blanket for half the afternoon. Both are exactly right.
We're always being told to listen to our bodies. But how, exactly? Is that ache asking for rest, or for movement? Is this tiredness, or something deeper? And self-care looks different for every woman, so how do you know what yours needs? Part of this day is learning to hear your own body clearly, and to trust what it tells you.
This day is for you if
- You're tired in a way a good night's sleep doesn't fix
- You'd love to feel strong and connected through your pelvic floor and core again
- You have questions about your pelvic floor, bladder or core that you've never quite felt able to ask
- You want to move, but gently, and in a way that makes sense for the body you have now
- You love the idea of being with other women, or you'd quite like to be left alone among them
Women of every age and stage are welcome.

Your guides for the day
Kim Pedrick
Kim has spent 28 years as a chartered physiotherapist in musculoskeletal, pelvic and women's health. She is also a therapeutic coach and a yoga, Pilates and Tai Chi instructor.
Christie Bytom
Christie is a yoga and martial arts instructor.
Together, Kim and Christie bring the clinic and the mat into one room: the understanding of a pelvic health physiotherapist and the steadiness of a gifted yoga teacher.
The shape of the day
A gentle rhythm of learning, moving and resting, from 9.30am to 4.30pm. Every session is optional, and there is always somewhere quiet to be.
Morning. Arrive to a warm drink and your own space. Then yoga, a session on listening to your body, and breath, core and pelvic floor.
Lunch. An unhurried hour of simple, soulful food. Join an optional journaling circle, or find a quiet corner of your own.
Afternoon. Tai Chi in the gardens, a yoga flow, tea and homemade cake, functional movement with Kim, and your questions answered.
Close. Restorative yoga and yoga nidra. Then slip away in your own quiet bubble, or stay for another cup of tea.
The day has been carefully planned, so there's always something on offer, whether that's a practice, a conversation or a quiet place to be. Join in as much or as little as you like. And if a question comes to you during the day, write it on a card and pop it in the box. It stays anonymous.
The venue
The day takes place at the Abbey in Sutton Courtenay, Oxfordshire. Warm, quiet and steeped in calm, it is the kind of place that slows you down the moment you arrive. There is good parking, and the venue is accessible.

Questions you might have
Do I need to have done yoga before?
No experience is needed at all. This is a space to come and move, and we'll guide you through every step. You don't have to be a yogi. And if you have practised before, that's lovely too.
Will I have to share or talk in a group?
No. Connection is there if you want it, through an optional journaling circle at lunch, but you're equally welcome to spend the day quietly on your own. Nobody will think you're being rude.
What if I have a question I'd rather not ask out loud?
That's exactly what the question cards are for. Cards and pens are around all day. Write your question down whenever it comes to you, and Kim will answer it for everyone in the afternoon. Nobody will know whose question is whose.
I've recently had a baby. Can I come?
Yes, from six weeks after birth, as long as you're feeling well. Every movement can be adapted for a postnatal body. This is a baby-free day, so you can fully rest. If you need a private space to express, just let us know.
I'm in perimenopause or menopause. Is this for me?
Very much so. Pelvic floor and core changes are common at this stage of life, and the day speaks to them directly.
I have a pelvic health problem. Will this help?
You'll leave understanding much more about your body, with practical tools you can use. This is an educational day rather than individual treatment, though. If anything needs a personal assessment, Kim can tell you how to get one.
I have a health condition or injury. Can I still come?
In most cases, yes. We'll send a short health form before the day so we can plan any adaptations. If you're unsure, get in touch first.
What should I wear and bring?
Comfortable, warm layers you can move in, warm socks, and a coat and sturdy shoes for the Tai Chi outside. Mats, bolsters, blankets and eye pillows are all provided. Bring a water bottle and anything that helps you feel cosy.
Is lunch included? What about dietary needs?
Yes. A simple, soulful, warming lunch, cake in the afternoon, and drinks all day. Let us know about any allergies or dietary needs when you book.
What if the weather is bad?
The day is mostly indoors. If it's too wet or cold for Tai Chi in the gardens, we'll practise in the library instead. You're also welcome to choose the library whatever the weather.
Is there parking? Is the venue accessible?
Yes, there is good parking, and the Abbey is accessible. If you have particular access needs, let us know and we'll make sure you're comfortable.
Can I buy a place as a gift?
Yes. Gift vouchers are available until 20 December, and they make a lovely Christmas present for the woman who never books anything for herself.
How many women will be there?
Just 17, so the day feels personal and unhurried.
Do I need to be able to get down on the floor?
It's best if you can get up and down from the floor comfortably. Chairs are also available for support.
I'm pregnant. Can I come?
Yes, you're very welcome. Every practice can be adapted for pregnancy. Just let us know when you book, so we can plan for you.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. You can pay in two monthly payments of ÂŁ94, the first on booking. This option is available until 10 December.
What if I can't come after all?
You'll get a full refund if you cancel by 24 December. After that, you can pass your place to a friend or move it to a future event. Please let us know as soon as you can, so your place can go to someone on the waiting list.
Your body has been speaking all year. This is a day to listen.
Come as you are. Take what you need. Leave with a little more understanding, a little more strength, and the quiet knowledge that the wisdom was within you all along.
